I’ve been making a study of women the last few months, especially women and their relationship to God, the world, the church, men, and to each other. I still have many questions but I have found a few answers so far too.
One of the most exciting things I’ve learned so far is the power of women who utilize their strengths. I wish I could offer every woman (including myself) access to and confidence in her divinely feminine gifts. Gifts such as intuition, empathy, steadiness, a nurturing heart, prescience, creation, spiritual intellect, and no doubt, many more I haven’t thought of yet. No matter her current circumstances, these gifts are always at her disposal. Add in her unique personality and individual spiritual gifts and she may just have more potential and power than she ever dreamed.
There is nothing prideful about claiming our rights to these gifts and having confidence in the power they give us.
Now that I know what I’m looking for, I see the gifts manifest in the women in my own life: a sister with confident faith in her promptings about future events and timetables, a mother with a calm steadiness that gives her home a distinctly peaceful atmosphere, a best friend so full of empathy and pure love that it even transcends a 3,000-mile distance, a niece who creates energy and light with her mere presence. Lately I’ve even begun noticing my own intuition about small and large matters affecting myself, my work, my family, and my home life.
Shouldn’t we take the opportunity to notice these gifts more often — in ourselves if we can, but maybe more importantly in the women we love? If we could notice someone’s gift and communicate it to her, she could start seeing it in herself and begin to develop greater confidence in it.
Women who trust their divine gifts will have strength to care for their families better, run their homes and jobs better, serve and love each other better, and to know and understand their own needs so they can stay healthy, happy, and spiritually in harmony.
God made us. He patterned us after Himself. What could give us more confidence in our abilities than that?
